CodeRED Emergency Notification System
Harrison County and the City of Cynthiana have instituted the CodeRED Emergency Notification System – an ultra high speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to telephone all or targeted areas of the City and County in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action (such as a boil water notice, missing child or evacuation notices).

Community Emergency Response Team
A Community Emergency Response Team consists of a group of individuals who have been trained in a free course sponsored by a local emergency response agency – typically a fire department or emergency management agency – to aid in disaster situations. CERTs are usually called upon by the organization that provided training for aid or disaster preparation excercises as well as further training in the community and possibly abroad.

Local Emergency Planning Committee
The Local Emergency Planning Committee is a group of individuals representing local government, law enforcement, emergency management, fire departments, health/welfare, transportation, hospitals, media, civic groups, and facilities subject to emergency planning and community right-to-know requirements. These inviduals work together in order to aid in the drafting of plans to prepare the community for disaster, notably the release of stored chemicals, combustibles, or other hazardous agents in the community.
